What you will do:
Financial Accounting & Reporting
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations for the Malaysia entity.
Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes and ensure timely reporting.
Prepare financial statements in accordance with IFRS and local statutory requirements.
Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
Prepare management reports and support leadership with financial insights.
Consolidation & Intercompany
Manage intercompany transactions, eliminations, and reconciliations.
Prepare consolidated financial statements and management reports.
Maintain consolidation workpapers.
Ensure consistency of accounting policies across entities.
Regulatory, Audit & Tax Compliance
Ensure compliance with Malaysian statutory, regulatory, and tax requirements.
Manage statutory filings, tax returns, and regulatory reporting obligations.
Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, company secretaries, and regulatory authorities.
Serve as the primary finance contact during external audits and lead audit processes.
Monitor changes in accounting and regulatory requirements and ensure ongoing compliance.
Treasury & Cash Flow Management
Monitor and report cash flow, liquidity, and working capital.
Manage banking relationships and support treasury operations.
Oversee bank reconciliations and treasury reporting activities.
Coordinate cash forecasts and recommend actions to optimize liquidity.
Support the establishment of local banking infrastructure, payment processes, and credit facilities.
Controls, Policies & Process Improvement
Design, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Develop and strengthen SOX-style control frameworks where appropriate.
Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and operational efficiency across the finance function.
Maintain chart of accounts and ensure ERP/system configuration supports reporting requirements.
Participate in ERP implementation, finance system enhancements, and process standardization initiatives.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Line manage accounting staff; develop capabilities, review work, and set objectives.
Collaborate with Finance Business Partners, Tax, Legal, Compliance, and external advisors.
Provide finance support for commercial decisions, M&A due diligence, and integration activities.
Partner with regional finance leadership and business stakeholders to support the launch and growth of the Malaysia business.
What you should have:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
Professional qualification preferred: ACCA, CPA, CMA, or CA.
8–12 years of accounting experience.
3–5+ years in a Chief Accountant, Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar senior accounting role (group/holding company experience preferred).
Experience in banking, fintech, financial services, or investment holding companies preferred.
Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting.
