Skyro empowers Parañaque National High School seniors with its first Financial Literacy workshop

Educating young people on financial management and smart spending habits will effectively help them build a more secure financial future well into their adulthood.

This was the key message of Skyro, a reliable SEC-registered lending app in the country, as it recently held its first-ever financial literacy workshop at the Parañaque National High School, one of the Philippines’ largest high schools. The workshop was attended by 30 Grade 12 ABM (Accountancy, Business, and Management) students eager to learn how to take control of their finances.

The program opened with a message from Ira Franco, Skyro’s Chief Operating Officer, who gave an insightful message on the importance of Financial Literacy and how they are helping as a company. “Financial Literacy teaches students the essential aspects of money management – budgeting, saving, avoiding debt, and investing. Through this initiative of Skyro, we hope we are helping build that strong foundation in them so they can feel confident and secure in their future.”

With all practical lessons the student attendees learned, Dr. Zenaida Regodon, assistant principal of Parañaque National High School, expressed her appreciation as she shared, “We hope our students were able to gain something from today’s training on how to spend and manage money wisely so that when the time comes, it will be of great help to them in their lives and in applying those they learned when they are employed in the industry.”

The program consisted of three segments. The first segment, led by Skyro’s Head of Training Pavel Grogul, introduced the concept of finance and then discussed the core principles of financial literacy with students. To put the principles into practice, Pavel gave the students two activities: “Money Flow Map,” where they were tasked to separate spending and earning on a board, so they can visualize how they can manage their money. They also did “The CEO of ME”, challenging the students to answer the question, “If my finances were a company, what would it look like?”

For the second segment, Pavel gave the students a lecture on “Responsible Decisions, Loans, Credit, and Installments.” The segment’s goal was to teach them smart money decisions and practical financial tools through various examples.

The final segment, led by Senior Trainer Vin Ryan Escaño, introduced Skyro and guided students through an engaging Adulting 101 activity that helped them apply their new financial skills. Closing the program, Skyro Head of Marketing Iya Lelyanova, encouraged students to carry the lessons forward. “I really hope that you can take these lessons today with you, think about it and even share it with your families. Skyro is here to help you manage finances light and easy.”

The workshop ended with a turnover of Skyro’s donation consisting of computer sets as well as school and cleaning supplies with a total value of more than ₱300,000.

Skyro’s financial literacy program is part of the company’s commitment to empower young Filipinos while supporting its mission to bring hope, happiness, and financial guidance to communities.
