Role Overview

We are looking for a strategic and results-driven Business Development Manager to spearhead our growth within the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) sector. The primary goal of this role is to build a robust ecosystem of SME clients who can benefit from our innovative lending solutions. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of the partnership, from initial market mapping to the successful onboarding of borrowers onto our platform.


Key Responsibilities

1. Market Identification & Categorization

  • Conduct deep-dive research to identify high-potential SME sectors and geographic clusters.

  • Categorize leads based on industry, turnover, creditworthiness, and borrowing needs to ensure a tailored approach.

  • Analyze market trends to identify "underserved" segments where our fintech solutions provide a competitive advantage.

2. Pipeline Prioritization & Outreach

  • Develop a scoring matrix to prioritize high-value targets that align with our risk appetite.

  • Execute cold outreach, networking, and referral programs to build a steady stream of qualified prospects.

  • Manage a high-volume sales funnel using our CRM to ensure no lead goes cold.

3. Negotiation & Onboarding

  • Pitch our lending products to SME founders and decision-makers, clearly articulating our value proposition (e.g., speed, flexibility, and tech-integration).

  • Guide SMEs through the initial documentation and application process, acting as a bridge between the client and our internal credit teams.

  • Ensure a seamless onboarding experience, maintaining high conversion rates from "Interested" to "Disbursed."

4. Relationship Management

  • Build long-term relationships with SMEs to encourage repeat borrowing and referrals.

  • Collaborate with the Product and Credit teams to provide feedback on market needs and friction points in the onboarding process.


Qualifications

  • Experience: 3–5+ years of experience in Business Development, Corporate Sales, or Relationship Management, specifically within Fintech, Banking, or NBFCs.

  • Domain Knowledge: A solid understanding of SME lending products (e.g., working capital loans, invoice discounting, line of credit) and the financial challenges faced by small businesses.

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret basic financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheets) and GST/tax data to gauge an SME's health.

  • Communication: Exceptional negotiation and presentation skills; ability to translate complex financial products into simple, persuasive language.

  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in MS PowerPoint (or Canva) and a comfort level working in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field (MBA is a plus).
